The Japan Comunity Hall of Fame Members …

Kevin Brown, Okazaki, Japan, Winning Father: In Japan, there is no dual custody in the case of a divorce. The non-custodial parent has no legal recourse if their ex-spouse denies access to the child. After receiving the court ruling that cost him his son, Kevin Brown set out on a 550-mile bike journey across Japan to raise awareness about “left behind” parents like him. He has been meeting government officials along the way to open a dialogue about changing Japan’s outdated family law, signing the Hague Convention, and making sure no loving parent is kept from their child again. By Jessica Ocheltree
