Oscar “The Blade Runner” Pistorius, Johannesburg, South Africa, Winner Against the Odds: Oscar Pistorius exemplifies true inspiration after being born with congenital absence of the fibula in both legs. Oscar had his legs amputated before his first birthday. A rugby injury forced him into physiotherapy, where he found his true calling as a runner. Within a year “The Fastest Man on No Legs” quickly became the Paralympic world record holder in the 100m, 200m, and 400m events. Soon after the Olympic committee banned him from all able body competition, but Pistorius appealed the decision and won. He’s currently attempting to race in the Beijing Olympics this summer to become the first amputee to ever compete. By Brady Rynyk
